October Fest Information

The Bloomington Swirlers were founded in 1972.  Earl and Liz Sams were our first President couple.

Tom Carroll was our first club caller.  The Bloomington Swirlers logo was designed by Cam and Ruth

Peterson.  The club originally needed a club name and considered "Suburban Swirlers".  When they

put an ad in the Bloomington paper someone suggested "Bloomington Swirlers", and they immediately

liked it and agreed.  Cam, who was a commercial artist by trade was asked to design a name badge using

a swirl and decide on a color.  They went to a fabric store and picked out a blue color (Skipper Blue)

that they liked.  Cam then drew the design by imagining what it looked like to see couples swirling.

After cutting it out on felt and laying it out on a white background, they showed it to the club and it

was adopted.
